My Non-Resolution Resolutions

I can't believe 2014 is over! So many wonderful things have happened for me this past year...planned an amazing wedding, finally moved out of our apartment into a beautiful home in Seattle, and reconnected with friends I haven't seen in years! But life continually moves forward, and I am welcoming 2015 with open arms. I have SO many things I want to accomplish this year and can't wait to get started!

My first attempt at refinishing furniture back in 2013. I felt amazing when it was all done!

#1   Spend less and save more. I hear my hubby in the background saying "finally!" :P A honeymoon, a house and travel oh my!

#2   Befriend and meet up with other beauty bloggers. There's nothing more that I'd like to do than make great friends with people that share in the passion that I have for beauty. For all of you bloggers out there, I know you feel me...those days when you're so excited to talk about a product or a new technique you finally mastered, and your friends/family have that glazed look on their face. I just hear them saying "Another one? Already?..."

#3   Rediscover. I feel like there are so many things I used to love that I have let slip by, both in the world of beauty and personally...

Fun Fact: Who here knows that white eyeliner was actually a 90's trend  started by Kevyn Aucoin? I remember my first white eyeliner was from Wet and Wild and it was horribly hard. It didn't glide on at all and left me looking disastrous...but I loved it :P

#4   Reduce stress. Stay organized and remember today is just one day of thousands in your lifetime. During the past six months, I have been on stress highway heading straight for it's headquarters...I always thought I handled stress well, but I knew it was finally taking it's toll the day my body began to lash out....insomnia, literally having to force myself to go to bed at 3am, missed periods (TMI?) and if that's ever happened to you, you'll know it triples your stress, and over all I've just felt bogged down.

#5   Indulge in a creative outlet. I used to do lots of crafts, draw, paint, sing, and play the guitar. Now I find that all I do is work and go to the gym. It's time to get back into the things I love and find that sense of accomplishment.

So, these are my goals. I've been working on them this past month and can already sense a change in the way I feel. The year is still young, and I can't wait to see what exciting ventures 2015 brings. Have you set any resolutions or goals for the new year? I'd love to hear about them! xo

Pen Pals

Yesterday, we were given the dreaded news that our engagement photos have been postponed until the weather gets better =( Soooo, it's turned into a lazy Sunday. I'm sitting on my couch looking for wedding invitation inspiration, watching Animal Planet, and finding great new blogs to read.  With all of this internet searching, I was brought back with the amusing thought of pen pals...! Did anyone ever have one when they were little?

BeautydelaMerSnailMail

When I was in elementary school, we were each assigned a pen pal who we wrote to weekly. It seriously was one of my favorite childhood memories. There's just something about receiving that envelope with your name on it, knowing that it's traveled miles to reach you (especially when you're little and never receive anything)! Knowing that someone took the time to write to you can turn a bad day instantly into a good one. You try telling me you don't like receiving letters.............That's what I thought...

I recently found out that schools would no longer be teaching children how to write in cursive. Call me traditional, but I was crushed by this realization. You can get to know someone so much through their handwriting...Technology is great, but I can never imagine an email becoming a antique. Something I would want to hang on my wall. Something I would cherish. Words will always be words, thoughtful and endearing as they can be. But the language of handwriting...cursive...is one that cannot be replaced.

Because I love letters so much, I am vowing to make sure I write more letters. My lazy Sunday resolution...starting now...xx

Oh the Weather Outside is...Wonderful!

Good Morning Lovelies!

I had an urge today to write about Fall & Winter, and all the wonderful things I love about it!

To kick start this blog, I'll begin with...drum roll please...dun da da dunnnn, Makeup! Surprise Surprise =P This is probably one of the best times to buy new makeup. Not only are all the holiday collections released (my favorite!), but most major makeup brands release new value gift sets. What does that mean for all us makeup obsessed? More great products for less money! Just started exploring makeup? This is a great time for you as well, as you can usually find all-in-one value sets for way less...AND if you're Nice, Santa may just get it for you for Christmas!

Keep an eye out for my upcoming blogs. I'm planning a Christmas Beauty Gift Guide for Her. Picked up most of the goodies this weekend!

Speaking of Christmas, it is my absolute favorite holiday -- isn't it everybody's?!? Undoubtedly, Christmas is responsible for Fall & Winter being thousands of times better than Spring and Summer. From the smell of spices and pine filling your home, to the twinkling lights on the tree, nothing competes with Christmas. All year, I wait patiently for the day after Thanksgiving so we can pick out a tree, and I can begin decorating. **Shhh last year I began decorating in October I was so excited!** Family, friends and shopping...what more could a girl ask for???

Now let's talk weather. Yes yes, I know most of you are thinking it's cold, it's dreary, and in most places it's wet. But those are all the things I love about it! There is nothing like cozy-ing up next to a fire, wrapped in my faux fur blanket, with a hot cup of spiced chai tea. If you don't love that, we may need to have a heart to heart conversation...

Last but not least, I could not complete this blog without including the fabulous-ness that is Fall & Winter fashion. Boots, scarves and chunky knits oh my! I am the girl that is ALWAYS cold when everyone else is roasting. So as you can imagine, when I can finally have an excuse to bundle up and not look out of season, I am secretly jumping for joy inside. My coworkers even bought me a personal blanket for the office just so they could turn down the heat. Yeah =Go Fall/Winter Fashion!!!

I have to make a special mention about love of socks. Tall, short, chunky and thin, colorful, plain, with lace and trim. While my sister may have a slightly larger addiction to them than I (love you Meggie) do not discredit my love for them. There truly is a pair of socks for every outfit in Fall & Winter -- a simple way to add dimensional layers and be extra cozy! What's not to love?

Comment below and let me know what your favorite things about Fall & Winter are. Are you a sunshine lover or do you openly welcome the crisp coolness of the Fall/Winter months?
